We have had costs increases in respect of laundry, cleaning requisites and heating but we remain on an electricity “fix” so haven’t been hit by that yet. We propose to continue operating without a change to our current 2023 prices until further notice.

Our booking system has had prices for 2023 updated. Clearly things are in a state of flux and we have initially set a below inflation increase just to try and offset some of our increased costs. The price per night from 3 to 6 nights will be £87. The price per night for 7+ nights will be £79 (£8 per night discount). One full week will therefore be £553. If the prices do require to go higher than that by next year we will obviously honour any confirmed bookings at the above prices.

Tommy and Susan who ran the Gordon Arms, Yarrow, have just handed over to new owners Bryn and Oxana Jones. They have bravely decided to open at the Easter Weekend 2022 and we wish them all the very best in their new venture. This change is so new we don’t know exactly what will be on offer in terms of facilities as it appears they are promoting it as “a restaurant with rooms” with less emphasis on the pub element as previously. We opened once more for self catering stays at Half House Cottage on the 26th April 2021. Please check our bookings page to check for availability.

Unfortunately we are obliged to close again due to changes to Covid restrictions. This is liable to continue into the early part of 2021. By all means enter some dates on the booking page to see what’s what but do not follow through with an actual booking before phoning or emailing directly.

It is advisable for anyone coming to the cottage for a stay in the Borders to have the Scottish Test and Protect app installed on their smart phone. If the app requires you to input a Scottish address and/or postcode feel free to use the Half House cottage, Cappercleuch, Selkirk TD7 5LG.

Bear in mind that at present the English app does not cover Scotland and that you will require to choose which app is “active” as they will not automatically switch when you travel across the border. If you are travelling from England remember to activate the appropriate app when you return home.
